Problems arise where replacement kitchens are fitted in existing dwellings. Zero rating (0%) is available for goods designed solely for use by a disabled person and for services of adapting goods to suit disabled persons. Mass production kitchen equipment is standard rated (17.5%) but bespoke and specially designed equipment such as cupboards accessible to a wheelchair user can be zero rated (0%).
